Situation
Founded in 2015, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has established itself as a key player in global project financing, particularly in Central Asia.
AIIB faces competition from established multilateral development banks (MDBs) like the EBRD and ADB, when engaging with various stakeholders, including media representatives. Despite significant investments in the region, the general public was originally largely unaware of the distinctions among these institutions.
Strategy
Montfort Eurasia has implemented a comprehensive media engagement campaign across Central Asia and the South Caucasus to enhance its visibility and stakeholder outreach, which continues to 2025 and beyond.
This initiative focused on:
Raising AIIB’s profile through its investment of over USD 5 billion in the region.
Creating impactful narratives showcasing AIIB’s contributions via exclusive interviews and project case studies.
Supporting major events such as the Annual Meeting in Samarkand and COP29 in Baku.
Outcome
The campaign successfully increased public awareness of AIIB, resulting in extensive media coverage across reputable outlets in Central Asia and the Caucasus. Highlights include:
Over 1,500 publications featuring AIIB.
An engagement rate reaching 600 million on social platforms.
More than 30 exclusive interviews conducted.
This comprehensive approach effectively communicated AIIB’s key messages to a global audience during significant events.
